Fast Food, Fast Fashion and Fast Web?
It’s curious how few still inquire about the environmental impact of superficial and unoptimized website development.
In an era marked by hyper-correct sensitivity and a growing woke culture, with a heightened awareness of consciousness, it’s striking how these crucial messages are mainly communicated through sites that have a considerable environmental impact.
Think about how many sites are circulating on the world wide web: as we write, there are a whopping 1,086,916,398, of which only 18% are active, the rest are dormant.
So much energy is being dissipated to keep all this stuff running!
But waste in certain cases could be contained, a few adjustments would suffice. Starting with the code used to develop a website: the cleaner it is, the more sustainable it is, because it consumes less energy to defend its security and because it “glides” through the network more quickly.
